Admission at a glance
Tsinghua University is a national university in Beijing under the Ministry of Education and one of the most internationally recognised universities in China. International undergraduate applicants apply through the Online Application System run by Tsinghua Undergraduate Admissions, choosing from 15 divisions covering science, engineering, economics, management, law, the arts and cross disciplinary study; the first academic year follows a general curriculum for the division before students confirm a specific school or major for the second year. Applications that pass document review lead to an integrative test covering academic ability, plus a portfolio or studio review for the Academy of Arts and Design. The admission decision draws on academic record, language ability, supporting materials and the test result together, rather than on a single score. Tuition depends on the division: 26,000 CNY a year for economics, finance, management and law, 30,000 CNY a year for most science and engineering divisions, 40,000 CNY a year for the arts, and a rising scale for Clinical Medicine that reaches 70,000 CNY a year in its later clinical stage. Graduate admission runs separately through each school and department, each with its own deadline, language requirement and required documents, rather than one university wide graduate cycle.

Requirements
Bachelor's degree
Applicants must hold a foreign passport, be a secondary school graduate or final year student, and meet the academic standard for their chosen division. The Academy of Arts and Design additionally requires a portfolio or studio based assessment. Applicants who clear document review sit an integrative test; Tsinghua does not publish one fixed academic score cutoff, since the decision is a holistic review of transcripts, test result and supporting materials.
Master's and PhD
Each graduate school sets its own academic requirement, typically a relevant bachelor's degree, or a master's degree for doctoral applicants, and for research programmes, contact with a prospective supervisor before applying. Language requirements are set by the school hosting the programme rather than by the university as a whole.
