Sun Yat-sen University is a national comprehensive university headquartered in Guangzhou with additional campuses in Zhuhai and Shenzhen, and one of the leading universities in southern China. Its Office of International Students' Affairs runs undergraduate admission in two rounds: a First Round from 1 January to 28 February and a Second Round from 1 March to 30 April in the most recently published cycle. Applicants must hold a valid passport, a high school diploma or equivalent, and submit academic transcripts, a China Scholastic Competency Assessment score, a physical examination report completed within six months, a certificate confirming no criminal record, and, for applicants under 18, a guardian's commitment letter. Programmes taught in English ask for TOEFL iBT 79 or above or IELTS 6.5 or above, rising to TOEFL 105 or IELTS 7.5 for the English taught Clinical Medicine programme; programmes taught in Chinese instead ask for HSK Level 5 with a score of at least 180. Tuition is set by broad subject group: 26,000 CNY a year for humanities and liberal arts, 33,800 CNY a year for natural science, engineering and agriculture, and 48,000 CNY a year for medical science. The application fee is 400 CNY, non refundable once paid.

Applicants must hold a valid passport with validity beyond the intended study period, a high school diploma or equivalent, and meet the language requirement for their chosen track: HSK Level 5 with a score of at least 180 for Chinese taught programmes, or TOEFL iBT 79 or IELTS 6.5 for programmes taught in English, rising to TOEFL 105 or IELTS 7.5 for the Clinical Medicine (MBBS) programme.
