Graduate

This record covers Sun Yat-sen University's undergraduate international admission, the clearest published international channel on the Office of International Students' Affairs pages; graduate programmes are administered separately and are not detailed here.

Valid passport, high school diploma and academic transcripts, a China Scholastic Competency Assessment score, an HSK or English test result matching the programme's language of instruction, a physical examination report completed within six months, a certificate of no criminal record, a birth certificate, and, for applicants under 18, a guardian's commitment letter.

How to apply

  1. Confirm the language of instruction of the intended programme and prepare either an HSK Level 5 certificate or an English test result accordingly.
  2. Apply online in the First Round, 1 January to 28 February, or the Second Round, 1 March to 30 April, in the most recently published cycle.
  3. Pay the 400 CNY non refundable application fee.
  4. Submit transcripts, the language test result, the physical examination report and the other required documents.

English test waiver

The general figure for programmes taught in English is TOEFL iBT 79 or above, with no section below 15, or IELTS Academic 6.5 or above, with no component below 5.5; the English taught Clinical Medicine (MBBS) programme asks for a higher TOEFL iBT 105 or IELTS 7.5. Applicants who completed prior schooling in English may submit a Certificate of English Medium Instruction instead of a test score. Programmes taught in Chinese ask for HSK Level 5 with a score of at least 180.
