Requirements
Bachelor's degree
Applicants must be non-Chinese passport holders between 18 and 25 years old, hold a secondary school diploma qualifying them for university study, and be in good health. English taught programmes ask for IELTS 6.0, TOEFL 85 or Duolingo 110, waived for native English speakers. Chinese taught programmes ask for an HSK Level 5 report with a score of at least 180. All applicants complete a comprehensive interview as part of the review.
Master's and PhD
Requirements are set by the hosting school; graduate tuition is 32,000 CNY a year for Chinese taught master's programmes and 36,000 CNY a year for English taught master's programmes, each requiring the language certificate that matches the programme's teaching language.
Documents
Passport photocopy, certified secondary school transcripts and diploma, a language proficiency test result (IELTS, TOEFL, Duolingo or HSK), a China Scholastic Competency Assessment transcript, a personal statement or study plan, a physical examination record, a financial guarantee letter, and a non-criminal record certificate. Design majors add a portfolio of at least two works.
How to apply
- Register online at apply.isc.bit.edu.cn and select a programme.
- Upload the required documents, including the CSCA transcript, before the interview stage.
- Pass the document review stage.
- Complete a comprehensive interview.
- Pay the 600 CNY application fee after preliminary review, then receive a pre-admission notice.
- Pay the tuition deposit stated in the offer to receive final admission.
English test waiver
Native English speakers are exempt from the English test. Chinese taught programmes ask for an HSK Level 5 report with a score of at least 180.
