Requirements
Year One entry
A minimum B average across secondary school subjects, relevant subject prerequisites for the chosen programme (both Mathematics and Physics for engineering and computer science, Mathematics for architecture and most science and business programmes), and IELTS 5.0 overall with at least 4.5 in each section, or TOEFL iBT 62.
Year Two direct entry
A levels at BBB, an International Baccalaureate score of 30 or above, or a high school diploma with a 3.0 or higher GPA together with three AP exams scoring 4 or above (or SAT/ACT plus two AP exams at 4 or above), and IELTS 6.5 overall with at least 5.5 in each section, or TOEFL iBT 90 with no skill below 21. Architecture, Filmmaking, TV Production and Digital Media Arts additionally require a portfolio and an interview.
Documents
Original or certified copies of secondary school diplomas and transcripts, English language test results, a passport or mainland travel permit copy, and, for creative programmes, a portfolio. Exam results can be uploaded directly or sent by the issuing institution.
How to apply
- Choose a programme on XJTLU's website and select up to three preferences.
- Create an account in the online application system and complete the form.
- Upload transcripts, English test results, passport copy and, where required, a portfolio.
- Submit before the deadline; a decision or a request for more material follows within about 15 working days.
- Accept the offer and, where eligible, apply by 15 April for the 10 percent early bird tuition discount.
- Pay the deposit stated in the offer letter to confirm the place.
English test waiver
This is the Year One entry requirement, with a minimum of 4.5 in each IELTS section. Direct entry to Year Two asks for a higher IELTS 6.5 (minimum 5.5 in each section) or TOEFL 90 (no skill below 21). The Translating and Interpreting programme separately asks for HSK Level 6.
