Admission at a glance
Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam) teaches bachelor's and master's programmes through faculties including Science, Social Sciences, Humanities, Law, Behavioural and Movement Sciences, the School of Business and Economics, Medicine and Dentistry. VU's own institutional tuition fee schedule for 2026-2027 sets a specific non-EEA rate for every bachelor's programme: EUR 14,310 a year for most Law, Business and Economics, Social Sciences and Humanities programmes, EUR 17,500 for Greek and Latin Languages and Cultures and Archaeology, EUR 19,650 for most Science programmes, EUR 21,800 for the joint-degree Physics and Astronomy and Chemistry programmes, EUR 20,430 for the joint-degree Liberal Arts and Sciences at Amsterdam University College, EUR 34,700 for Dentistry, and EUR 35,640 for Medicine.
Applicants with an English-taught bachelor's or master's programme and an international diploma pay a non-refundable EUR 100 application fee before their file is assessed, unless the diploma was obtained within the Kingdom of the Netherlands or the fee was already paid for another VU programme that cycle. English proficiency for most English-taught bachelor's programmes is checked against IELTS Academic 6.5 overall or TOEFL iBT 92, with Philosophy Politics and Economics and Law in Society setting stricter component minimums.
Applications can be submitted from 1 October; the deadline for most English-taught bachelor's programmes is 1 April for non-EU applicants and 1 May for EU applicants. Four bachelor's programmes run a numerus fixus selection procedure with a 15 January deadline, of which Psychology is taught in English.
