Admission at a glance

Munster Technological University was formed in 2021 from the merger of Cork Institute of Technology and Institute of Technology Tralee, and serves the Cork and Kerry region across several campuses. Non-EU undergraduate tuition is set at a flat rate of EUR 13,500 a year across programmes, though a EUR 2,500 scholarship is available to eligible students, reducing the net cost to EUR 11,000. The general closing date for non-EU undergraduate applications for September entry is 31 May, and MTU has previously suspended new applications from a small number of countries, including Pakistan, Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya and Zimbabwe, because of expected delays in visa processing, so applicants from those countries should check current status before relying on the general date. MTU sets a lower first-year English requirement than most Irish universities, accepting IELTS 5.5 with no band below 5.0, TOEFL iBT 70, PTE Academic 46 or Duolingo 90 for direct entry to year one; advanced entry to a later year and postgraduate programmes ask for a higher IELTS 6.0, TOEFL iBT 80, PTE Academic 51 or Duolingo 100.
