Requirements
Bachelor's degree
Applicants need a completed senior high school education, a valid passport, and either an HSK certificate for Chinese taught programmes or Academic IELTS above 6.0 with no subtest below 5.5, or TOEFL iBT above 80, for programmes taught in English.
Graduate
This record covers HIT's main international undergraduate admission channel; graduate programmes are administered by the same College of International Education with their own academic requirements not fully detailed here.
Documents
Passport copy, high school diploma and transcripts, a China Scholastic Competency Assessment score, a language proficiency certificate, a medical examination report completed within six months, a certificate of no criminal record, a curriculum vitae, and proof of a financial deposit of at least 20,000 CNY.
How to apply
- Confirm the language of instruction of the intended programme and prepare the matching language certificate.
- Upload all application materials to the College of International Education's online system; paper materials are not accepted.
- Pay the application fee, 400 CNY for self financed applicants or 600 CNY for HIT Scholarship applicants, before the 15 July deadline for a September start in the most recently published cycle.
- Wait for the admission decision from the College of International Education.
- Apply for the JW201 or JW202 form and an X1 student visa before travelling to China.
English test waiver
For English taught programmes, HIT asks for Academic IELTS above 6.0 with no subtest below 5.5, or TOEFL iBT above 80, or equivalent evidence of prior education in English. Chinese taught programmes are assessed on Chinese ability instead, generally through an HSK certificate reviewed by the College of International Education.
