Requirements
Bachelor's degree
Applicants must be non-Chinese passport holders with a secondary school diploma, and must take the China Scholastic Competency Assessment before applying. English taught programmes ask for TOEFL 80 or above, IELTS 5.5 or above, or Duolingo 100 or above, with an exemption for applicants from an English speaking country or previously taught in English. Chinese taught programmes ask for an HSK certificate at the level the chosen major sets.
Master's and PhD
Requirements are set by the hosting school. Tuition for Chinese taught postgraduate programmes runs from 23,000 to 33,000 CNY a year depending on subject and level, with English taught options priced higher: 28,000 to 29,500 CNY a year for master's study, and 40,000 CNY a year for English taught PhD study.
Documents
Academic transcripts, secondary school diploma, a language certificate matching the teaching language, a China Scholastic Competency Assessment result, a physical examination form, a passport copy, a recommendation letter, and a self statement of at least 600 words. Documents not already in Chinese or English need a notarised translation.
How to apply
- Take the China Scholastic Competency Assessment ahead of applying; DUT recommends doing this early.
- Submit the online application with all required documents through DUT's application system.
- Pay the 800 CNY application fee.
- Wait for the School of International Education to review the application and issue a decision.
- Accepted applicants receive an admission notice and apply for the student visa before travelling to Dalian.
English test waiver
Applicants from an English speaking country, or who completed prior schooling taught in English, may submit a school issued language certificate instead of a test score. Chinese taught programmes ask for an HSK certificate at a level set by the chosen major.
