Admission at a glance

Simon Fraser University has three campuses in the Vancouver metropolitan area, with the main Burnaby campus hosting most first-year international undergraduates. Applicants apply through EducationPlannerBC, the shared British Columbia application service also used by other BC institutions, and pay a separate, higher application fee than domestic applicants. Admission is based on grades in required senior secondary courses for the chosen program. SFU bills tuition per unit rather than a single flat annual amount, and groups programs into a basic international rate and higher premium rates for the Beedie School of Business, the School of Engineering Science and the School of Computing Science; a standard full course load is 30 units a year. English proficiency is demonstrated through IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, Duolingo or CAEL, valid for two years before the application. SFU runs three intakes a year, Fall, Spring and Summer, though Fall carries the widest choice of programs and residence spaces for new international undergraduates.
