Requirements

Bachelor

The Discovery Program for Global Learners admits international applicants who have completed, or expect to complete, secondary education equivalent to a Japanese high school diploma. English proficiency is required for all applicants without five or more years of English-medium secondary schooling; the programme recommends CEFR B2 but sets no fixed pass mark. Selection uses submitted documents and a three-part personal statement, with test scores dated after September 2024 for the cycles checked.

Documents

Graduation certificate or a statement of expected graduation, official sealed transcripts, a reference form, an English proficiency test score report, a personal statement in three parts, a recent colour ID photo, and proof of the application fee payment. SAT or ACT scores and proof of Japanese proficiency are optional additions.

How to apply

  1. Confirm which application period fits your target entry term (April/October or October only).
  2. Register in the online application system and pay the application fee by credit card.
  3. Upload transcripts, English test scores and personal statement, and post the sealed documents.
  4. Attend an interview if the programme requires one for your cycle.
  5. Accept the offer and pay the admission fee and first tuition instalment to confirm your place.

English test waiver

The Discovery Program for Global Learners recommends CEFR level B2 or higher in English, shown through IELTS, TOEFL iBT, Cambridge English, EIKEN, GTEC, TEAP, TOEIC or an IB English score, but does not publish a minimum numeric score for any single test. The test requirement itself is waived only for applicants with five or more years of secondary education taught in English.
