Scholarships to Study in Netherlands (2027)

The Netherlands runs a public higher education system of research universities and universities of applied sciences, with most international bachelor's and master's programmes taught in English. Applications go through the national Studielink portal, with a 15 January deadline for capped numerus fixus programmes and 1 May for others, and non-EU students commonly apply earlier to allow time for a study residence permit.

The NL Scholarship, formerly known as the Holland Scholarship, is the main national award for non-EEA students: a one-time EUR 5,000 payment in the first year of a full-time bachelor's or master's programme at one of 47 participating Dutch institutions, open to applicants who do not already hold a degree from a Dutch institution and who meet their chosen university's own criteria. Many universities also run their own scholarships or fellowships for non-EEA students, and some fields or nationalities have access to separate, subject- or country-specific awards.
