University of Twente Admission Requirements 2027

The University of Twente is a public technical university in Enschede with non-EU/EEA institutional bachelor's tuition of about EUR 12,300 to EUR 16,400 a year for 2026-2027. Bachelor's applicants with a non-Dutch diploma pay a EUR 100 application fee, and numerus fixus programmes such as Psychology and Technical Medicine close 15 January.

Requirements

Bachelor

A secondary qualification recognised as giving access to university-level study, meeting the chosen programme's own mathematics and science prerequisites. English-taught programmes require IELTS Academic 6.0 or TOEFL iBT 80, unless exempt. Psychology (English track) and Technical Medicine run a numerus fixus selection procedure.

Master

A relevant bachelor's degree meeting the specific master's programme's own grade and subject requirements.

Documents

Diploma and transcript of secondary (and, where relevant, higher) education, certified translation if not in Dutch or English, a passport copy, and an accepted English test certificate. Numerus fixus applicants also complete any additional selection steps the programme sets.

How to apply

Register in Studielink for your chosen bachelor's or master's programme from October onwards for the following September intake.
Pay the EUR 100 application fee if you hold a non-Dutch educational degree.
Use UT's online deadlines tool to confirm the exact date for your nationality and programme; numerus fixus programmes close 15 January.
Upload your diploma, transcript and English test result before the deadline.
If admitted and from outside the EU/EEA, apply for a residence permit for study with UT as your recognised sponsor.
Pay the tuition invoice and arrange housing and health insurance before enrolling.

English test waiver

IELTS Online, IELTS Indicator, IELTS One Skill Retake, IELTS General Training and TOEFL MyBest scores are not accepted. TOEFL tests from January 2026 use a new scale, with an equivalent overall minimum of 4 (minimum 4 on reading, listening and writing, 3.5 on speaking) stated by UT.
