Requirements

Bachelor

Admission requirements are set out by educational system (for example GCE A Level, IB Diploma, French Baccalaureat, US high school, or Quebec CEGEP) on McGill's own requirements pages, and list the specific subjects and grades each program expects. There is no single published minimum average across all programs; Management, Engineering and Science tend to be the most competitive.

Graduate

Set by the individual department; applicants should confirm the required undergraduate background, references and, for research programs, a supervisor, before applying.

Documents

Official transcripts appropriate to the applicant's education system; proof of English proficiency unless exempt; the non-refundable application fee; supporting documents such as a portfolio or audition for programs that require one, including Music.

How to apply

  1. Confirm the specific entry requirements for your education system and chosen program on McGill's undergraduate admissions website.
  2. Submit the online application and pay the application fee, which covers up to two program choices.
  3. Arrange for transcripts and English test results, where required, to reach McGill.
  4. Complete any supplementary requirement, for example a Music audition, by its own deadline.
  5. Accept an offer of admission once received.
  6. Apply for a study permit and, since McGill is in Quebec, a Quebec Acceptance Certificate (CAQ), which also serves as the provincial attestation letter.

English test waiver

Applicants who have lived in a country where English is the acknowledged primary language, or who attended an English medium institution full time for the most recent three years before starting at McGill, do not need to submit a test score. International undergraduate applicants are not eligible for this waiver based on secondary school marks alone.
