Requirements

Bachelor

A secondary qualification recognised as giving access to higher education, meeting the subject prerequisites (commonly mathematics and physics) of the chosen programme. English-taught programmes require IELTS Academic 6.5 or TOEFL iBT 90; Dutch-taught programmes require IELTS 5.5 or TOEFL iBT 70. The six numerus clausus programmes add a selection procedure alongside the academic requirements.

Master

A relevant bachelor's degree with grades meeting the programme's own threshold; many engineering master's programmes also ask for specific prior coursework.

Documents

Diploma and transcript of secondary education (and prior higher education where relevant), certified translation if not in English or Dutch, passport copy, and an English test certificate no older than two years unless exempt. Applicants from the People's Republic of China need a Nuffic certificate confirming their prior education alongside an IELTS or TOEFL result.

How to apply

  1. Check whether your chosen bachelor's programme uses numerus clausus selection (deadline 15 January) or the general international deadline (1 April).
  2. Register in Studielink and start the TU Delft application.
  3. Upload your diploma, transcript and English test result, and complete numerus clausus selection activities if applicable.
  4. Receive a conditional or final admission decision; numerus clausus rankings are announced by mid-April.
  5. If admitted and from outside the EU/EEA, TU Delft applies for your residence permit for study as your recognised sponsor.
  6. Pay the tuition invoice by the date given and enrol before the start of the academic year.

English test waiver

Applicants from the USA, UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand or Canada are exempt from the English test. Cambridge C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency are also accepted. Dutch-taught programmes ask for a lower floor of IELTS 5.5 or TOEFL iBT 70.
