The Yenching Academy Scholarship funds a fully residential, interdisciplinary master's degree in China Studies at Peking University, taught in English over two years. The Academy enrolls about 120 new students each year, with roughly three-quarters coming from outside mainland China; applicants can choose among five tracks covering economics and management, history and archaeology, law and society, philosophy and religion, and politics and international relations. Candidates need a bachelor's degree, or must be completing one with graduation expected by August of the enrollment year, strong academic records, demonstrated interest in China, leadership or community involvement, and English proficiency of at least IELTS 7.0 or TOEFL 100 (or an equivalent), along with two academic recommendation letters from full or associate professors. Mainland Chinese citizens apply through Peking University's Graduate School rather than through this international track. The scholarship covers full tuition, on-campus accommodation or an off-campus housing stipend, a monthly living stipend, one round-trip international airfare, basic medical insurance and field study costs; students who remain in good standing can apply to continue this support into a second year. The application for the class entering in 2027 closes 30 November 2026 at 9am Beijing time, through the Academy's own online application system.
