Yonsei University Admission 2027: Deadlines, Fees, Requirements

Admission at a glance

Yonsei University is a private research university founded on Christian principles, with its main Sinchon campus in Seoul, a Songdo International Campus and a Wonju campus. International undergraduates without Korean citizenship (and without a Korean parent) apply through the International Student Track, which covers most colleges and departments, or the separate GLC International Student Track for the Global Leadership Division within Global Leaders College; both admit once a year for a March start and evaluate applicants by document review alone, with academic transcripts, a personal statement and language proficiency evidence as the main inputs.

For the March 2027 intake, the online application ran from 1 to 17 September 2026, with original documents due by 30 September 2026 and results announced 4 December 2026; this was Yonsei's current cycle at the time of this review. A September intake exists too: the most recent, for September 2026 entry, ran its online application from 10 to 26 March 2026, though the September 2027 cycle had not yet been published. Yonsei asks every applicant to prove Korean or English proficiency but sets no single fixed pass score for most majors, a policy that is changing: from the March 2027 intake, a Yonsei-administered placement test that applicants without a qualifying score could previously sit is discontinued, so a genuine external test result becomes compulsory for everyone. Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing and Pharmacy are the exception, and instead require TOPIK level 5 or above with no English alternative.

Yonsei charges international undergraduates its own tuition schedule, separate from what Korean students pay, ranging from about KRW 4.56 million a semester in the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences up to KRW 9.22 million a semester in the School of Integrated Technology within the College of Computing; Underwood International College, Yonsei's fully English-taught college, charges about KRW 8.42 million a semester. The undergraduate application fee rose for the 2027 admission year to KRW 200,000 for most majors and KRW 230,000 for Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacy, up from KRW 150,000 the previous year.

Requirements

Bachelor

Both the applicant and the applicant's parents must hold non-Korean nationality, obtained before the applicant began an education equivalent to Korean secondary school, and the applicant must hold or expect to hold a high school diploma from a regular, government-recognised curriculum; home schooling, online-only study, GED and similar equivalency routes are not accepted. Applicants must submit proof of Korean or English ability, and Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing and Pharmacy additionally require TOPIK level 5 or above specifically.

Master's and PhD

The Graduate School's international student track needs a relevant bachelor's degree (or master's for doctoral applicants) and one of TOPIK level 3 or above, or an English score (TOEFL iBT 71, IELTS 5.5, TOEIC 750, TEPS 285), with several departments (including psychology and sociology) asking for a higher TOPIK level instead of, or alongside, English.
