Admission at a glance

Toronto Metropolitan University, known as TMU and formerly named Ryerson University, is a public university in downtown Toronto that applies through the Ontario Universities' Application Centre (OUAC) like other Ontario universities, alongside its own TMU International Application used by many applicants outside Canada. Admission is based on the applicant's secondary school record in the courses required for the chosen program, and TMU is known for career oriented programs such as journalism, film, business, engineering and architectural science that combine academic study with practical or co-operative experience. English proficiency is required unless the applicant is exempt, with the general minimum applying to most programs and a lower minimum accepted for Engineering and Science programs other than Computer Science and Architectural Science; test scores must reach TMU by a set date after the application deadline. TMU publishes tuition per program rather than one flat rate, and rates for 2026-2027 are lowest in Arts, Science, Community Services and The Creative School, and highest in the Ted Rogers School of Management and in Engineering and Architectural Science. At the time of verification, TMU had not yet opened or published dates for the September 2027 application cycle; the university's page for the current cycle stated that the September 2027 process would open after the September 2026 cycle closed.
