Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU) is one of Korea's oldest and largest private universities, tracing its roots to 1398, with a Humanities and Social Sciences Campus in central Seoul and a Natural Sciences Campus in Suwon. International undergraduates who hold foreign nationality along with both parents apply as freshmen through either a Korean Track, covering the majority of majors including Confucian and Oriental Studies, Liberal Arts, Social Sciences, Business Administration and every Natural Sciences and Engineering department, or an English Track limited to Global Economics, Global Business Administration and Biomedical Engineering, three majors that recruit only for the March intake and teach entirely in English.

For its most recent published cycle, Spring 2027, SKKU opened online applications on 12 August 2026 and closed them 21 August 2026. Admission is by document screening of academic transcript, personal statement and language ability, with an additional interview possible for some units; SKKU does not publish a fixed quota per admission unit. Applicants generally need a Korean or English test result to apply, though SKKU's own general undergraduate materials do not state one fixed pass score for most majors; the clearest published minimum is for Business Administration, which asks for TOEFL iBT 80 (or ITP 550), IELTS 6.0, TOPIK level 3, CEFR B2, or a Duolingo score of 110.

Tuition varies by campus and field: SKKU's own 2026 fact sheet for incoming students gives a range of roughly KRW 5.2 million to 8.1 million a semester across majors, and the application fee is KRW 100,000, a figure this review found repeated consistently across several of SKKU's own separate international programme fee schedules. SKKU also awards Admission Scholarships automatically to top-scoring applicants in each college, ranging from a 10% to a full tuition waiver depending on rank, alongside Merit-Based scholarships from the second semester onward tied to GPA.

Requirements

Bachelor

Applicants and both parents must hold foreign nationality (Taiwanese nationality with one Korean parent is not eligible), and the applicant must have graduated high school, or be expected to graduate before the semester starts; GED, home schooling and cyber schooling are not recognised as equivalent to a high school diploma. Korean Track applicants submit a TOPIK score or an approved substitute; English Track applicants (Global Economics, Global Business Administration, Biomedical Engineering) submit an official English test.

Master's and PhD

Graduate admission is organised by SKKU's individual graduate schools and departments, each publishing its own deadlines, language requirements and required documents rather than one university-wide standard.
