Requirements
Bachelor
ELBA admits applicants who have completed, or expect to complete, secondary education equivalent to a Japanese high school diploma, with an IELTS Academic score of 6.5 or higher required; ICU also accepts TOEFL iBT, but its published TOEFL equivalent changed for tests taken on or after January 21, 2026, so applicants should confirm the current TOEFL figure directly on ICU's own page. No Japanese proficiency is required at application, but the Japanese Language Program is compulsory after enrolment.

Academic transcripts, a certificate of graduation or expected graduation, an IELTS or TOEFL iBT score report, a personal statement, letters of recommendation, and proof of application fee payment. ICU publishes a detailed Undergraduate Admissions Guide each cycle covering the exact document list.
How to apply
- Confirm the April or September ELBA entry point that fits your school calendar.
- Prepare transcripts, an IELTS or TOEFL iBT score, and a personal statement.
- Submit the online application and pay the JPY 30,000 application fee plus the JPY 880 system fee by the deadline.
- Complete any interview or additional screening requested.
- Pay the matriculation fee and first term's tuition and facilities fee after an offer to confirm enrolment.
