IU Bloomington reviews secondary school transcripts for grades and course rigor. International applicants demonstrate English proficiency through TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo English Test or PTE Academic, meeting the university's published minimum, or through an accepted alternative such as a qualifying SAT or ACT score or several years of secondary schooling in English.

Documents

The Common Application or IU's own application, official secondary school transcripts, an English proficiency score meeting the published minimum, and, after admission, financial documentation so the Office of International Services can issue the Form I-20 for the F-1 visa.

How to apply

Apply through the Common Application or IU's own application by the early action or regular decision deadline.
Submit official secondary school transcripts.
Submit a TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo English Test or PTE Academic score meeting the published minimum.
Pay the 65 dollar nonrefundable application fee.
After admission, submit financial documentation so the Office of International Services can issue the I-20.

English test waiver

Applicants can also demonstrate English proficiency through a qualifying SAT or ACT score, by completing secondary school in an English speaking country, or by completing Level 7 of IU's own Intensive English Program. Scores must be less than two years old.
