GREAT Scholarships 2026: Deadline, Eligibility, Benefits

GREAT Scholarships are a joint initiative of the UK government's GREAT Britain Campaign and the British Council, delivered together with more than 60 UK universities across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Each scholarship is worth GBP 10,000 towards tuition fees for a one-year, full-time taught postgraduate course, and covers tuition costs only, not living expenses or travel. For the 2026-27 academic year, over 200 scholarships are available worldwide across around 15 eligible countries, including Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, China, Egypt, Indonesia and Malaysia. Applicants must be a resident and citizen of one of the eligible countries, hold an undergraduate degree from an accredited institution, meet the English language requirements of their chosen UK institution, and meet all of that institution's normal admission requirements for the course applied to. There is no single GREAT Scholarship application or deadline. Each partner university publishes its own list of eligible courses, its own application process and its own closing date on its GREAT Scholarship page, and applicants apply directly to that university rather than to the British Council.
