Chevening Scholarships 2026: Deadline, Eligibility, Benefits

Chevening is the UK government's global scholarship and fellowship programme, funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and partner organisations. It funds one year of full-time taught master's study at any UK university and in almost any subject, for future leaders and influencers from more than 160 eligible countries and territories. Applicants must have completed an undergraduate degree that would qualify them for a UK master's, have at least 2,800 hours of work experience (roughly two years of full-time work), and commit to returning to their home country for at least two years after the award ends. British citizens and dual British citizens are not eligible, except citizens of British Overseas Territories and BN(O) status holders applying from Hong Kong. Chevening pays full tuition (capped at GBP 22,000 for MBA programmes), a monthly living allowance that varies by city, economy return travel, arrival and departure allowances, visa costs and a contribution toward a TB test where one is required. Applications open once a year directly through the Chevening website; no separate university offer is needed before applying for the award itself, though an unconditional offer from up to three eligible courses is required later in the process.
